Real estate is a process that requires numerous skills and attributes to be successful such as listening, market analysis, negotiation, marketing depth, attention to detail, patience, an eye for design, focus, flexibility, organization and the satisfaction of helping people achieve their objectives. Lynn Bulmer is able to draw upon a rich background in business which has served her clients well in the purchase or sale of real estate, whether they are first-time buyers, trading up, downsizing or expanding their real estate investment portfolio. Lynn Bulmer had fifteen years of experience in New York, Washington, DC and overseas prior to becoming a realtor. She began her professional career in New York as a grain trader for a major commodities firm, transferred these skills to an investment bank where she undertook money market and bank securities trading and was subsequently promoted to the corporate division. 'The experience I gained while working in New York was invaluable to me in selling real estate. Trading requires quick thinking under pressure, and banking gave me an understanding of how a bank funds itself and lends money. But the best lessons learned were how to build a solid client base and provide exceptional service.' Lynn moved to Washington in 1983 to work as an international business consultant where she completed projects in market analysis, pricing assessments, competitive product review and investment promotion. 'Much of my international consulting took place overseas, which required perseverance and strong communication skills to bring parties with disparate views to mutual agreement.' One of Lynn's clients echoed the sentiment when he said 'In helping us to prepare to sell our home, Lynn worked tirelessly in keeping us apprised of an ever changing market, was instrumental in helping us stage our home for the open house and did a tremendous job in marketing the home. In advance of the open house, Lynn advertised extensively in the local media, sent out a mailer with photographs of our home to more than 1300 potential clients and adeptly got out the word of our upcoming sale to her vast network of contacts. Lynn's team also created hundreds of attractive color brochures filled with relevant information about the home and numerous professional quality photographs. By the time the open house arrived, we were perfectly prepared. Although Lynn's work ethic and skill set her apart from the many other real estate agents in the Washington area, what mattered most to us were the results Lynn delivered. We put our home on the market during a time at which many believed the Washington real estate market was in the midst of a downturn. With Lynn's invaluable assistance, however, we had five offers on our home, all above asking price within two days of our only open house!' Lynn earned her BA from Southern Illinois University and an MA and MBA from New York University. For more than 30 years, Lynn has lived in either Woodley or Cleveland Park. 'I love my neighborhood,' Lynn says, 'and my career as a real estate agent. It is a very challenging and rewarding profession.'
